A Snack That Does Good, Always.

We’re Dedicated to Making the Planet Better

At MadeGood®, our actions matter. We’ve known this since day one. The ingredients we choose, the suppliers we know and the ways we operate can be a force for change...for good. Caring for the planet is baked throughout our company and our impact must be good, or nothing at all.

We're Holding Ourselves Accountable

To inspire a healthier and more compassionate world, and as one step in our journey to fulfilling our purpose, we created our first Sustainability Report to hold ourselves accountable. This report summarizes our accomplishments on the path to becoming truly sustainable and sets our intentions for the future.

We invite you to read our report and join us on our journey as we build our sustainable company for the future.

Rooted in These Pillars for The Future

Pillar 1 : Established BCorp

To be a BCorp you must meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. B Corps are known to use their profits and growth for good, and that about sums up our purpose at MadeGood®. At every step, we’re redefining what business looks like by counting the planet in on every decision we make.

Pillar 2 : Fit for the Future

A business that is “Future-Fit” is one that delivers its purpose in a way that doesn’t cause any harm to the planet or society. That means transforming itself to become environmentally regenerative, socially just, and economically inclusive.

MadeGood® has become a Future-Fit Pioneer and will use the Future-Fit Benchmark to identify exactly what we must do if we are going to be a leader and reorient our business in pursuit of a flourishing future for all. We are just taking the first vital steps and are committed to sharing our journey with you as we transform our business and society for the better.

Pillar 3 : Commitment to Zero Waste

MadeGood® is proud to be a TRUE Zero Waste business only the third company in Canada with such a rating with 90 percent of our waste being reused, recycled, composted, and recovered for use in nature or the economy. In addition, one of our offices is paperless, and we continue to expand and label our waste and recycling for maximum efficiency.

Pillar 4 : Sustainable Packaging & Recycling

Recycling:
A cleaner world starts with recycling. We’ve partnered with How2Recycle - a standardized labeling system that communicates recycling instructions to the public. We want to empower YOU to become educated on smart packaging labels so we can do more to give back to the planet.

Our Packaging:
84% of our packaging is recyclable, but we are not stopping there. Our goal is to have our packaging be 100% sustainable by 2025.

Fighting Climate Change

Science-based targets provide a clearly defined pathway for companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, helping prevent the worst impacts of climate change and future-proof business growth.

We have committed to work towards reducing our scope 1 and 2 emissions in line with the target set to measure, disclose, and reduce scope 3 emissions and publicly report our company wide GHG emissions on an annual basis. We commit to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 30% by 2030 from a 2019 base-year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions.

Putting Our Pillars into Practice

  • Sustainability: How to Recycle our Products
  • Climate Change: Conversation of our ovens from gas to electric
  • The Pilot Project - collaborating with COG on agrul scientists. – improving soil health.

At Riverside, we partner with organizations that believe in building community, empowering children with nutrition and health.

Here are some of the amazing organizations we are giving back to:

I Grow Chicago & Marillac St. Vincent (MSV)

MadeGood® has pledged nearly $100,000 in combined support to I Grow Chicago and Marillac St. Vincent.

Two Chicagoland non-profit organizations providing essential services and relief programs to underserved neighborhoods throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation will go towards minimizing food insecurity concerns, and ensuring continued eldercare and mental health support for Chicagoans in need.

Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC) & Food Banks Canada

MadeGood® has pledged $130,000 in combined support these two non-profit organizations providing essential access to healthy food to communities in need throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation will go towards minimizing food insecurity concerns, as well as ensuring these organizations have the resources needed to distribute the items to Canadians who need it most.

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids)

As one of our very first community partners, Riverside has used employee product sales to raise money to donate to SickKids for the past 5 years. We’ve just hit an amazing $50,000 in cumulative giving and will continue to raise money to help fund research and development other initiatives to progress children’s health.

TAIBU Community Health Centre

Recognizing that systemic oppression has fostered conditions of ill-health with Black communities, we are helping TAIBU as they strive to deliver primary health care and related services for Black populations across the Greater Toronto Area through intersectional, equity based and culturally affirming practices which promote holistic wellness, health education, and prevention. The food donations from MadeGood® supports the Empringham Community Breakfast program and will also support clients at TAIBU through some of their food security efforts.
